In the year 1984, 'The Chemical, Industrial and Pharmaceutical Laboratories Limited' is officially re-christened as 'Cipla Ltd'. In 2000, Cipla became the first company to launch CFC free inhalers outside the USA and Europe. In the year 2016, Invagen Pharmaceuticals and Exelan Pharmaceuticals (USA) became the subsidiary companies of Cipla. In the year 2018, Cipla QCIL became the first Pharmaceutical company to be listed on the Uganda Securities Exchange. Today, Cipla owns 34 manufacturing plants in 8 Indian locations and a presence in over 80 countries, which makes it a well established pharmaceutical brand across the geographics.
