The Whirlpool Corporation is an American multinational company, engaged in the manufacturing and marketing of home appliances. The company was founded on 11 November 1911 and it is headquartered in Michigan, United States. As a part of the global expansion strategy, Whirlpool entered India in the late 1980s. The company established its very first manufacturing plant in Pondicherry for washing machines. Whirlpool India Private Limited is one of the leading manufacturers and marketers of the home appliances in the country, headquartered in Gurugram. 

Whirlpool deals with the manufacturer and selling of both major appliances and small appliances. The products included in the list are Electronic Accessories, Refrigerators, Purification, Commercial Appliances, Laundry and Air Conditioning. The list also includes cooking, refrigeration, ice cube making, laundry, dishwashing, preparation and ventilation products. 

In 1995 Whirlpool marked an entry into the refrigerator market by acquiring Kelvinator India Limited. The same year the company took the major share in TVs joint venture, as a result later in 1996, Kelvinator and TVS acquisitions were merged to create, Whirlpool of India Limited. Hence, the company began manufacturing and selling of washing machines, refrigerators, microwave ovens and air conditioners in the Indian subcontinent. Today the company owns, three manufacturing plants at Faridabad, Pondicherry and Pune.
